This is a paddle program geared towards people that don't necessarily want to race, but want to get in excellent bump catching shape. Although, if you'd like to enter a race at the end of the 20 week plan, you certainly could... and the results could be FAB-U-LOUS!
Designed originally to train athletes for optimal performance in the 13-mile Carolina Cup Graveyard Race, this plan works well for any paddlecraft race of 10-15 miles. At 21 weeks in length, this plan helps you build a great base of fitness before laying some really intense speedwork. With 4 key workouts per week, this plan is flexible enough to fit most lifestyles.
If you have four days per week to train on the water and your peak paddle race is 5-9 miles long, this plan establishes your paddle fitness base and systematically builds speed on that base. Best suited for athletes with at least one year of regular paddling experience.
Designed to prepare you for maximum performance in race distances of around 10km (6 miles) while training on the water five times per week, this paddle training plan is best suited for athletes with at least 2 years of regular paddling experience.
